Where to Get Advice

Many residents are having disrepair problems and are frustrated at the length of time Hyde takes to deal with them – if they fix them at all! Sometimes the only thing we can do is get help from a solicitor or local councillor in enforcing our rights as tenants. We can help you with that. Contact us (see right sidebar or here) and we will give you the details of a solicitor who is helping several KPE tenants. There is also free advice (on benefits, debt, money, etc as well as housing) available at One Lambeth Advice (run by Lambeth Council and the Citizens Advice Bureau) at https://onelambethadvice.org.uk/ or by phone 0800 254 0298. Contact details for our local councillors and our MP can be found here. And our neighbours in Stockwell have organised an advice session on 3 November which is open to KPE residents.

TA News

News from KPE TA – July 2014 Repairs – our heads, their brick walls!   Since the start of the new repairs contract with Mears at the end of October last year, the Tenants’ Association has been very active in challenging Hyde Head Office on behalf of our tenants. The contractor (Mears) appears to tenants to have failed to perform to the contract from the beginning and continues to perform poorly. We have been assured that the most senior staff at Head Office are dealing with the problem, holding top level meetings every week. This is what we have been told for over six months now. The best brains at Hyde Head Office have been defeated by one repair contractor and HSH residents have suffered the consequences. ‘Bear with us’ Hyde’s publicity machine has begged us. ‘The necessary steps are being taken!’ we have been told. ‘Bear with us a…

Repairs? What do you think?

Hyde’s Repairs and Maintenance Service     Angry tenants at November’s TA meeting made their feelings clear about the poor repairs service and passed no confidence motions in Hyde Southbank Homes’ management of the repairs service and the Hyde Group’s customer service centre, as well as registering grave concern at the lack of a planned maintenance programme across the estate. Our representatives on the Southbank Residents Forum have recently received an update from Hyde which blames the problems with the repairs service on IT systems, tenants reporting too many repairs (like too much sewage coming up through our kitchen sinks?), and the former contractor’s workers. Sounds to us as though Hyde is using the same spin doctors as the Coalition Government! But decide for yourself. Here’s the letter from Hyde Southbank’s Resident Services Manager: “As you will of course be aware, 28th October signalled ‘Go Live’ for the new repairs…
