2015-03-25 13.58.38 NLE signNLE-FLO will be commencing construction of the Acoustic Enclosure at our Kennington Green work site towards the end of April 2016.  To enable us to do this and also ensure the safety of pedestrians, we are intending to install a temporary safety platform of scaffold (called a “Crash Deck”) over a section of the footway on the eastern, Kennington Road, side of the work site.

This operation is scheduled to take place over 3 work phases on the dates and times listed below:-

Phase 1 – Saturday 12th of March 2016 (08.00-13.00) – To remove hoarding and Install the corner of Acoustic Enclosure frame, then reinstall hoarding.

Phase 2 – Saturday & Sunday 2nd & 3rd of April (08.00-16.00) – To Install Crash Deck over foot way.

Phase 3 – Saturday & Sunday 23rd & 24th of April (08.00-16.00) – To remove Crash Deck from over foot way.

Footpath diversions will be put in place throughout these times and we will ensure Marshals are stationed at each end of the diversions to assist pedestrians and residents. Please note the attached drawing, showing the intended diversions and work area. The work will be carried out under TfL Work Permit – Kennington Road YG407277762.

NLE Kennington Park & Kennington Green Works Information Bulletin 6 – 12 February 2016

Kennington Green/Montford Place

Removal of excavated material and general work will be carried out on site during core working hours on Saturday 06 February (08:00 to 13:00). Piling work is not expected to take place at Kennington Green this weekend and it will continue, as usual, during our normal core working hours of 08:00 to 18:00 Monday to Friday.  Unfortunately there may be times when unforeseen circumstances on site or a delay to the delivery of concrete mean that work may overrun for a short period.  The construction of the pile must be completed to maintain the safety and integrity of the finished structure.  We will always endeavour to advise the community of overruns by e-mail, however our Helpline, on 0343 222 2424 (Option 1), will always be made aware, in case an e-mail was unable to be sent.

We have, again, brought the matter of uncollected refuse and recycling around Kennington Green/Kennington Road to the attention of Lambeth Council and we trust that this will result in an improved service and a full resumption of Tuesday collections.

Work on the Sewer connection to the Chivas Distillery continues within the site, close to Montford Place.  This work is presently on schedule to be completed by the end of February.  To further assist security at the junction of Kennington Road and Montford Place, we will be installing an additional CCTV camera to cover the area close to the hoardings near 1-1c Montford Place during next week.  Our Security staff carry out regular patrols.  Should you observe anything which may concern you, please do not hesitate to visit the Security Cabin at our Montford Place or Kennington Park Offices and speak to one of our Security personnel.

The Tree of Heaven at the north end of the work site was removed by Lambeth Council’s operatives on Wednesday 03 February.  Four 6m plum trees, to be placed on site inside the hoarding, are now on site waiting to be placed in the area being prepared for them.

As part of the sewer connection operation in the Chivas Distillery area we will be continuing with work in the “corridor” between our Montford Place site and Kennington Green. From today (5 February) the corridor will be closed for access to Kennington Green until the work is complete in three to four weeks.  As previously advised, as a result of this, residents will observe our site staff using the public footways to access our work site at Kennington Green.  Please be assured that this work will be carried out using best practicable means and potentially noisy work will be closely monitored as usual and acoustic barriers will be used as the work progresses.  We apologise for any inconvenience that this activity may cause.  Our staff have been briefed on their responsibilities to the community whilst using the public footpaths and roadways.

As stated in our last Bulletin, we have been advised that TfL Surface have arranged for their contractor, CVU, to carry out some resurfacing work outside our own Traffic Management near the junction of Kennington Road and Windmill Row.  This will take place on Sunday 07 February between 09:00 and Midday.  Some Traffic Management will be in place during this work.  This work is not under the supervision or control of NLE/Flo.  The Works Number for this activity is:- C3_HR/11066.

Kennington Park

We expect Piling work to take place on Saturday 6 February and throughout the week during our core working hours (08:00 to 13:00 Saturday and 08:00 to 18:00 Monday to Friday).  Apart from any unforeseen circumstances and overruns which may occur, we do not expect there to be any out of the ordinary activities on site.  Again, we will endeavour to advise the community by e-mail if we expect there to be any activities which may need to be carried out outside our normal working hours.  In the event that an e-mail cannot be sent, the Helpline (0343 222 2424 Option 1) will be given details of any occurrence that may attract the community’s concern.

During the week commencing 14 February, equipment will be brought to the worksite to commence carrying out an operation known as “Dewatering”.  This is to ensure the safety of the excavation and tunnelling.  It entails the drilling of small diameter wells into the water bearing ground.  When the wells have been sunk, equipment called “Piezometers” are introduced which enable us to determine the water levels in the wells. Passive pumps are also installed to reduce the water level and water pressure in the ground which reduces the potential risk of flooding during underground construction.  Dewatering is not dangerous to the surrounding area or the integrity of the water table and it is not expected to cause disturbance.  You may, however, observe new small tracked vehicles on the worksite associated with this operation.  We will also be carrying out this activity at Kennington Green in due course.

We apologise that, on both work sites, whilst every effort is made to carry out work within the agreed core working hours, it should be remembered that during complex engineering operations and continuing to ensure the paramount need to complete work safely, advice from outside agencies, or circumstances on site, may provide only very short notice for the team to advise of a potential work overrun. We thank you for your patience and understanding should work continue for short periods after our core working hours.

Please do not hesitate to contact us via the Helpline or, should you wish to discuss specific site related issues, contact us or request a visit to site to discuss the matter in question.  For safety and security reasons, if visiting our worksites please only enter through the security cabin so that you can be signed in and your presence on site recorded and you can be met by a member of the site staff.  Thank you.

NORTHERN LINE EXTENSION – FLO

Northern line extension Christmas close down

2015-12-22 15.50.46

Dear all,

The Northern line extension project will break for the Christmas period from close of business on 23 December 2015 and will resume activity on Monday 04 January 2016. Security will remain on all sites 24/7 throughout this period.

We respectfully remind all our neighbours, stakeholders and the general public that, for their own safety and security when visiting a worksite for any purpose, it is absolutely imperative that they adhere to strict security policies and safety guidelines.  All NLE worksites require visitors to enter via the Security Office, sign in, obtain a visitor’s pass and then be escorted by a member of staff to the site office or meeting place.  In some cases failure to observe these guidelines and policies could lead to formal action being taken.

Should you have any issues, queries or concerns over the Christmas period, the NLE 24/7 Helpline telephone number 0343 222 2424 (Option One) will be available and a Duty Manager will be on call.

We would like to thank you for your cooperation and patience during 2015, and we wish you merry Christmas and a very happy New Year.

NLE Team
