Welcome to the website of Kennington Park Estate Tenants’ and Residents’ Association

Kennington Park Estate is a large estate of social housing in Kennington, South London, neighbouring the internationally famous Oval Cricket Ground and the historic Kennington Park.

It enjoys excellent public transport links and easy access to central London.

The estate comprises 12 five-storey blocks built in the 1930s by the then London County Council. Most of the blocks and many of the surrounding streets are named after cricketing greats.

It was owned and managed by the Greater London Council and then Lambeth Council until 2005, when ownership was transferred to a housing association, Hyde Southbank. The estate required major regeneration work and government policy at that time meant that transfer was the only way that this could be funded.

There is a Community Centre on the Estate which provides leisure, educational and recreational activities for residents.

Nowadays residents on the estate are a mix of housing association tenants, leaseholders and private tenants. Everybody, whatever their status, is welcomed into membership of the Tenants’ and Residents’ Association.
